Prologue ✨

'Akshansh…” I called him softly.

He had asked me to meet him at our favourite spot.

He was standing in front of me with a cold expression. After such a long time, I was seeing this side of him again. Something felt off—I could sense it.

I started walking towards him, but he stayed rooted in his place, just looking at me. As I was about to hug him, he stepped back.

I looked at him, confused.

“What happened, Akshansh? Did I do something wrong?” I asked softly.

For a moment, his dark eyes softened… but the warmth disappeared just as quickly, turning cold again.

“I want to talk to you about something,” he said, his voice distant.

I nodded slightly, my confusion growing.

“We should end this.”

My eyes widened at his words. How could he say that?

“You’re joking, right Akshansh? Aap mazaak kar rahe hain na?” I said, my eyes filling with tears.

His expression softened seeing my tears, but he looked away.

“No, Kiara. I’m serious.”

“Lekin kyun, Akshansh? Aapne toh vaada kiya tha na… ki aap kabhi hamara saath nahi chhodenge. You promised me you would never leave my side… then why this?” I cried, my voice breaking.

He looked at me once… and then turned away again.

“Aap toh apni iss chatterbox se bohot pyaar karte the na, Akshansh… phir aap aisa kaise keh sakte hain?” I said, hoping he would turn back… hoping he would hold me like he always did.

But instead, he smiled—a fake, empty smile.

“Nahi karte hum aapse pyaar. It was just a mild attraction, Kiara… and now it’s over. Hume maaf kijiye agar humne aapka dil dukhaya ho.”

And with that, he walked away.

I stood there, watching him leave… until he disappeared from my sight.

And the moment he did, my knees gave up, and I collapsed to the ground.

Tears streamed down my face as every memory we shared flashed before my eyes.

And just like that…

"We became strangers again—with memories that refused to fade."
